Elapse My Love

As I lay dying
Wondering when this pain will end
Hoping for a sign to tell me
When it's safe to love again

I see your face upon the horizon
The way you glide with one foot in front of the other
Strengthens my belief that you're an angel
And I never want to love another

Yet, I know you aren't mine
So a single tear escapes my eye
But I want to be tough in your heart
So I don't let you see me cry

I hold you up
With the utmost respect
I considered our love invincible
Nothing we'd have to perfect

That no longer seems logical
You are now out of my grasp
And all I can do is watch
As love and pain elapse
