Broken bonds, broken dreams

by Cathy Danielson   May 4, 2007

He hid behind a taciturn cloud,
too scared to join the normal crowd.
She never asks for the truth,
just bits sewn together to assume false proof.

A mother's heart holding secrets, not proud,
wanting to scream the truth out loud,
But closed minds will not listen to the truth,
avoiding the pain, they remain aloof.

The hurting heart is paralyzed,
by grief twice realized
Afraid of her own mortality,
Longing understanding, an impossibility.

A heart so broken, bitter and closed,
Cries recrimination and never knows
The pain that she suffers within herself,
Is echoed many times over in her mother's broken self.

How to break through that cloud of pain
And have a loving relationship again?
A mother's question from her agonized shell,
Lost sons and brothers, they share the same hell.
