A little piece of myself

by doug frazier   May 5, 2007

I woke up this morning, just like any other day.
But something was missing, just what! I couldn't say.

There was no smell of coffee or bacon on to fry.
There wasn't any music, somehow, I knew why.

I walked to the closet and opened the door.
There was this note, that I found on the floor.

"I knew you wouldn't notice, that I slipped out of bed.
What we had once is gone, the fire is dead".

"My heart is empty, like the drawers and the shelf.
Each time I loved you, I gave a little piece of myself".

Little by little, I gave me away.
Until all that was left, is what you found today.

You see, love is a lesson, we all have to learn.
If you take something away, you must give in return.

But you never gave me, what I saw in your eyes.
That's why I left, without saying "goodbye"!

If you loved me, you're feeling what I've felt all along.
A pain in your heart, but it's too late, "I'm Gone".
