Childhood

by Linzy   May 7, 2007

As I grew up
I had lack of identity.
My last name was changed
to give me "serenity".

Fighting and hurt;
my feelings were strong,
the words that they spoke
had left me in wrong.

a picture painted
was a picture from hell,
because anything I made
would just make them yell.

My heart was abused
and so was my face
My step-dad hated me,
because of my race.

Heroin,cocaine;
left me in tears
while you shot up your body
these drugs were my fears.

You told me you hated me
and said I should leave
so I picked up the phone,
and started to grieve

My dad came to get me
a man I didn't know
he would show me how to love,
and teach me to grow.
