Push of Faith

by Richard S   May 7, 2007

She stood at the edge,
Pondering the deep uncertain darkness.
It was said by learned people,
That great treasurers awaited those who leaped.

Secrets of love.
Understanding.
The nature of happiness.
Contentment.

It was said,
If one took the Leap of Faith,
One would be upheld,
Levitating in the glory of Truth.

But to leap was to risk it all.
If Faith waivered or was misplaced.
She would only fly until she met the ground.
She worried not of death but of eternal injury.

Morning came to cast brilliant light,
Into the Abyss.
Tempting shadows of promised delights,
Beckoned our transfixed girl.

To leap would be to leave the familiar.
Not an unhappy place.
It was the place she had dwelt in,
Safe.

The promise of something more inched her close.
Closer to the edge.
Closer to Faith.
Closer to a decision.

The morning light even more brilliant now.
More tempting.
But a bottom was still not visible.
Could happiness really begin with a Leap of Faith.

She closed her eyes.
Commanded the legs to act.
But roots had grown from weary souls.
And shadows appeared in the depths.

My feet won't act.
I can not move.
I'm paralyzed with doubts.
She cried for intervention.

Where heavenly light had begun to reveal,
Possibilities.
Darkness had returned.
Another unresolved day at the edge.

And as the last light left the abyss,
She could feel a hand on her back.
A voice whispered softly.
Is there such a thing as a Push of Faith.
