Fur Elise

Fur Elise

Death.
this melody always reminds me of death.
No wait...not death...
the moment right before.
I always feel it when its coming.
but still, softly I play this tune
in the silence of this white, white room
as my fingers glaze over the piano keys
softly, quiet now, don't let Danger hear
or it shall surely come for me.

But still I play.

Comfort.
this melody always brings me comfort.
I close my eyes and let my fingers float on
like a ghost without a name, a rapture of grief
and all I can remember all I can see...
are blue painted dancing spheres...
and a man in black, looking back at me as he plays
Threatening me with his stare, daring me to scream.

But still he plays.

And I stand there and listen.
Bare, vulnerable, and completely surrendered
to the music, to the sound
of the black keys puncturing the white ones
as the gun raises to my chest
Tears, a lover will cry tears for me, I hope.

But still I will die.
with dancing spheres spinning in my mind.
Blue. thats all i remember. They were blue.

And after the last key forced down
and after the shock of fire is heard
He will stop playing.

Note:
-Fur Elise is German for "For Elise" a name for a piano solo by Beethoven written in 1810. It is the song i refer to in the poem.-

A great piece here, Layla. I like how you used a classical music title and made it your own. I could hear the melody in my mind as I read this. Always good to see you trying new things, and this is unique- a dark, haunting story-poem with overtones of Beethoven.
