To a soldier far away!

He comes home at the end of a long day,
stays up long enough to send out i love you's and pray.
Hoping to come back to his own life and state,
upon returning there to a long awaited date.
With a girl he has never met and barely knows,
except for some chats and webcam shows.
Both of them not knowing what will happen in the end,
as far as he can tell shes becoming more than just his friend.
He imagines his life without this war,
to go home to her and do things he's never done before.

At night she lays her head down to pray,
of her soldier coming home to her to stay.
As she closes her eyes to go to sleep,
while dreaming of him her feelings are oh so deep.
Waiting to see his smile and to touch his skin,
could this be a sign of a love to begin.
As she awakens in the morning light,
a sigh of relief to have him with her all night.
Even if only for in a dream,
hes still the best thing she has ever seen.
So as she goes on about her day,
waiting for the return of her soldier from far away.
