Internal Battle

by elly   May 11, 2007

She looked at you like another obstacle; another battle
Another person that would stand in her way, yet hold her so high
Only to drop her at an instant when you saw something better
It baffled her, confused her, why she could gain your attention like so

She picks at little things, analyzing them as she always does
Even more so when she feels so complacent and safe at your side
You leave her without doubt, and so free
Coaxing a wild wolf never really was easy

Fleeing your searching eyes, yet sinking into your soft touch
The feel of your closeness almost too much for her to bear
She looks for something to be wrong, but secretly wishes that there were nothing
But when there is something, a fright is pressed into her aching heart

It's not like she expected to let herself get in too deep
The warm waters of her emotions encircle with the thoughts of you
Driving her almost mad at the effort to pull away from what was sucking her in
Danger almost seems to engulf her, and the only thing she knows is escape

Run away.
Run away from what threatens her, what interests her
Escape from the battlefield when it looks as though her cause is losing
Her cause being to never fall into the affliction named love

She wasn't willing to just surrender in the blink of an eye,
Nor the beat of her heart
Denying herself was always the easiest
Intentions being to shelter her body from the arrows that may not miss this time

===once again done at around 3' in the morning when i was horribly tired. tell me what you think? criticism? praise? :D ===
