Only the Reflection Weeps

by Maelle   May 13, 2007

Full of people outside,
You’re surrounded with joy.
Yet alone on the inside,
Surrounded with darkness.

None can even suspect
The pain that you feel:
Your face is dry,
Yet your reflection is weeping.

Crowds now surround you,
Yet you are all alone,
Alone to face your fears,
Alone to face your problems,
Alone to face your Life.

This is because you’re blocked by a wall.
One you built on your own, to protect yourself
from the outside world. There is a problem.

You built it to protect you from your fears.
A way to be happy, to feel safe, and content.
But your wall cuts you off, from happiness, from life.
And leaves you alone, in the midst of a crowd,
Where none can hear your silenced screams for help.

You are alone in your world,
left to cry, in a place where none can see.
As you only cry, internally.
