The mirror of love

by skye   May 14, 2007

When the world begins to darken
and your worst fears shine through
you start to feel unworthy
of a perfect life you knew

so deep down below the surface
were the rhythm of your heart is faint
and only a small line of light shines
do you release your not a saint

you begin to notice your flaws
and self doubt floods your veins
as you develop a warped perception
of the beautiful girl thats seeping through the drains

your eyes no longer glitter
they seem hollow, with a glazed stare
the little girls soul has run away
and left her walking bare

your innocence is stripped away
and so you become a little insane
because you believe your repulsive
and you cant deal with your pain

walking outside is to hard
to you people stop and stare
you feel your being judged
but theres no one really there

so self conscious its scary
the mirror taunts and teases you
as you stare into your eyes
wondering whats left to do

your hand reaches forward
as your body crumbles to the floor
you touch the glasses cold surface
and try to look for more

tear drops glisten and trickle
gliding down your soft skin
your heart beat fades away
and you hope to god you'll win

as you lye on the hard ground
and burry your face so you can hide
praying to god he'll change you
so you can feel some sense of pride

this is the destined life of low self esteem
not wanting to wake for another day
afraid of looking in the mirror
scared of what the ugly voice will say

for some living is a struggle
and the bad days make you cry
obstacles make it hard to smile
if only people understood why
