Family

by Mimi   May 14, 2007

This is supposed to be an extended metaphor "song" about a place but it turned out being sort of a poem so i'm posting it.

I long to belong again
In a place where I'll be me;
The town where I lived back then
Has become my family.

It's full of warm love and life.
Cherishing sweet memories,
Getting strong in times of strife,
Thriving in the cool nights breeze.

My kin sparkle like the stars
Twinkling in the midnight sky.
They're as lively as the cars
In the highway rushing by.

This family holds some secrets
That wind whispers in my ears.
No one could ever forget
How they've grown over the years.

The joy shining through their eyes
Is like vibrant neon lights.
This abode is just my size.
It is where I feel right.
