Opium

by Allexielle   May 16, 2007

Sea mist fills the air
Like clouds of perfume puffs,
Suffocating nostrils with saltwater.
Pale moonlight creeps
Into a haven of trees
Leading to a river,
Drenched with tears and promises.
With silvery stars emerge
On the surface of placid waters.
Artermis casts images of an illicit romance;
A forbidden kiss
That has lain on lover's lips,
The lingering smoothness of hands
Of hands that touched,
And the lasting scent of saccharine rose
On fingertips that caroused
Her golden blond curls,
To the lover
Unrequited
Waiting at the rriver bend
Waiting.
Drowning.
Dying from passion.
