Can I Keep You?

by Jayleen   May 16, 2007

The bell rings, school is out! Summer is here.
Papers on the floor, students running away.
I run down the hall searching for you.

Panting hard; my legs keep moving, I feel
Like a track star. Running to your every
Class, only to find you not there.

I give up! You're gone! I'll never
See you again! Sulking down the hall, I
Turn the corner smacking into you.

The shock of seeing you made me lose
My breath.

You smile, then kiss me; slipping
A small note in my hand. You
Look at me again. No words
Are spoken until you speak this
"I couldn't leave without saying
How much I love you."

You know I love you too. That's why I'm
Still here. I always will. Tears fill my
Eyes, you hug me and smile.

"It's only for the summer." You
Sooth me. Yes, but I never pictured you
Loving me like this.

Can I ask you something? Would it be
Wrong to ask, can I keep you?
