I Am From...

by MidnightSeaNymph   May 17, 2007

I am from the ancient rivers
That ebb and flow into ocean.
I am from the Nine Muses-
I am Euterpe and Clio.
I am Calliope and Erato.
I am Melpomene and Thalia.
I am Polyhymnia and Urania
I am Terpsichore and her dance.
I am from Beauty and Love,
Aphrodite's greatest gifts.
I am from Psyche and Eros
With their forbidden love.

I am from the bloodiness of battle
With the dawn shedding light
And the night masking the blood.
I am from the heart of a fighter
Who goes on till the end and never,
Never, ever give himself in surrender.
I am from the illusionist and trickster
Who watches and waits and see you mind,
You never catch on; you will never catch on.
I am too perfect, too practiced at this.

I am from crumpled parchments
And on me are hastily written letters.
Sense is never important in life,
So make a mistake; who knows the effect?
Mistakes may make miracles.

I am from the haughty Queen
Never did another Cleopatra reign.
I am from those who push the limit,
Who stretch the boundary; is there one?
I am from Elizabeth, a woman who's strong
Never can I bow down; I am in control.

I am from the world's oceans and lands.
I am the river, pulling towards my supporter
For even the strongest cannot live alone.
As I brave my way through the crowd,
I will remember one simple thing:
I am the World and the World is me.
I am the Supporter and the Supported.
So when you come, tell me this:
Do you know you are the ocean, and I the sea?
