We are a Secret

by Katie   May 17, 2007

We are a secret.
A good secret.
A bad secret.
But still a secret.

You persist, much,
but I am taken.
but apparently not in your mind.
Your persistence will not brake through my others bind.

You send me roses,
chocolates and love poems,
but you fail to see,
mere thoughtful gestures, will not persuade me.

But you continue on,
till I will be at wits end.
Then I will be yours, but secretly.
I will only live for your eyes, nightly.

I will be yours forever, but there will always be a problem. Him.
He's the reason you may only kiss me in your
bedrooms shadow.
We must confess, release our inner demons, you know it is the only way, you know!

One day, your room, on your bed. Sitting there.
A knock on the door, a loud knock.
Both our hearts stopped.

Crash, bang, down came the door.
He stood there, just stood there.
The anger quickly spread like poison oak over his once solemn face.
I knew at that moment that this was over.

His blood, forever stained on my hands.
I still love him from my core.
I now have no real love to give.

His body caged by bars and guilt.
Never seeing the light of day.
Fifteen years til parol, I'll be dreading every minute.

I often visit the county prison,
and the cemetery.

We were a secret.
A good secret.
A bad secret.
But a secret no more.
