A Picture of you

by Chelsea   Jun 1, 2007

I have a picture of you
when you were getting clean
when you were becoming mom
and watching me between.

Your eyes were glistening
you did look great
you were so pretty as when you were young
but one puff and it all was gone.

The drugs took the place
of your daughter and son
we werent good enough
in the long run.

You had to go on
back to that boy
you ruined your chance
to watch us grow up.

To bad you missed everything
and every little touch.
You missed my grade 7 grad
my first baseball game.

You missed Joey getting old
and moving on from graduation day,
you didnt help him move out
or begged him to stay.

Your parents are our parents
couldnt you be there to?
my one and only wish
is to have a mommy like you.

You are the one that had me
raised me for a couple years
put me with my grandparents
then regretted the choice you once endeared.

So once again I cry
waiting for the day
where you come home and show me
you are going to stay.

Or I wait until the phone call
to tell me things arent well
to tell me you went above
and wont be coming down.
