Wasted youth

by pandora   Jun 3, 2007

I spent my twenties drinking away the decade. I went to bars and partied while people died to protect my freedoms. I danced on the dance floor while people saved dolphins and whales.

I spent my thirties self absorbed in a violent and abusive relationship while people crusaded to save our enviornment. I lived each day in fear and deception while others worked tirelessly to feed and shelter the homeless.

I have left my youth behind. I lost the last of my innocence. I yearn for a higher purpose. I wish I had a noble calling. I have wasted my youth. My middle age is not looking any better.
