Proud

by Tyler   Jun 4, 2007

I walk yet-
with confident step,
in a din of crickets,-
liar,

I won't stupid-stutter or mumble
as I quick-step or stumble,
in discord with the evening air,

and yet,-
I won't forget
between shadows in the moonlight-
a bright patch of pride-
in which I hide,
and quickly make my disguise,
liar.

Yet again I can’t forget,
but the shadows are coming
and if I start running-
I could never beat them now,,
so I all I can do,
is pretend to be like you
until I realize that I'm too proud.
