In the Corner of The Room

by Lyra   Jun 7, 2007

Fluttering
Light and frothy
Like eyelet and lace, I felt the touch
Upon my face
But when I whirled around and looked
There was only shadow
And the emptiness of space
Unoccupied
So, with a lilting laugh
Musical, offhand
I cast away the castaway
Of the light
The Fluttering light
But the shadow lingered, In whispers
In silence
In the space between breaths
It's cold intangible hand
Upon my pulse
And I learned to regard it with the same dread
And, eventually, terror
That had first been attached to the
Something, Quickened!
Was now consumed by
The Nothing
In the
Corner
Of
The
Room.
