The Mask

by Piratica   Jun 14, 2007

Always looking down
Shoes are what I see
It is a common site
When you are one like me
A smile, a nod
A laugh and kiss
Its a good cover up
When the past I miss
The smile shows happiness
When the heart is in pain
When in a life like this
Only numbness I gain
A night full of joy
Is ended by tears
But no one sees this
As I hide all my fears
A glass, a smoke
A bottle and knife
Four things are used
To hide inner strife
A heart and a shoulder
Are what people desire
But when no one knows
When from crying I tire
When the past is the future
But the present never ends
The mask is always there
For the secrets it defends
