Forever Chained

Looking into the mirror
Staring back, what do I see?
Not the grown woman
But the helpless child in me

Robbed of my innocence
Now living my life in fear
Spiraled into a depression
For this life I wish to revere

Trapped behind invisible bars
Created by my imagination
Confined to a life of solitary
Deepened by my isolation

Abandoned hope in the past
Confidence never to be regained
Loathing in a sea of tears
To this destiny I am forever chained
