To the New World

by Jacob M Parnell   Jun 17, 2007

Is this the end?
Will this generation be the one?
Will we end the world?
Has the apocalypse begun?

Our society is decaying,
Its become unsafe to learn,
There's genocide in Africa.
But its apparently of no concern.

We're at war with our enemy,
But im confused whose who.
Is it we who are the terrorists,
Or could it be you.

People leave their faith in religion,
But seem to ignore our problems at hand.
Quit worrying about the afterlife.
Please we have to make a stand.

We cant go out like this,
I wouldnt mind living to be old.
But with how its going now.
My future could fold.

It's horrible to think about,
But its a likely thing.
Our world is sinking,
It could be gone by spring.

So to the children I may never have,
And the others who could never be.
I'm sorry we took away your lives,
But I'm glad we set you free...

I loved every single line of this poem, it was so hard choosing my favourite stanza. Every single word you spoke was true, sadly. The problem with society is that its getting to a point where if we dont start taking action it will be beyond repair. We can make a change

    Great poem.
    Take Care.
