Love is for poets

by Hannah   Jun 20, 2007

Love is for poets

Words inspired by that fervent fever

That gave rise to time’s greatest ballads

A gentle euphoria, seeming everlasting

Desire, wooing, passing fancies, brief but memorable

Jeweled eyes of unmasked lovers inspire

Words, meaningful fluff that flows,

A thing of love-struck couples, and lacy, pretty things,

And little girls dreaming of their prince

Upon a snow-white horse, mane flowing

Non-existent

And soon, the high wears off

And those who fell are left

With broken hearts, while

A somewhat pathetic longing

Dictates words of bitterness and rage

That rips the soul with emotional agony

Painful remembrance

So whether it be the joy of new-found love

Or the weeping of a wilted heart,

Love was made for poets.
