Cancer

by Ashleigh   Jun 23, 2007

She was only 6 months old when I first held her in my arms
She was finally free of her mother's harm
She was full of grace & charm
Her life before she reached me was pure craze
Later in life- she would have dreams of becoming a dancer but soon those dreams would be taken away due to a disease called cancer
Now at six years of age- She&I flip through a book with many colorful pages
"Why must she go through this?" I ask in terrible rage
One day-She told me she had dreams of being a cheerleader once she was in middle school but i didn't want to be cruel & say her dreams are unrealistic so i just said" Great!"So after she told me about the dream , the cancer went into remission& I finally gave her permission to cheer
Most of her middle school career was based on cheering
Soon, she will be in high school
The only thing we didn't know was the cancer would return in her freshman year
You wouldn't believe how many tears we saw that day
This time the cancer only lasted a month & she went into remission & got her hair back before HS tryouts began
She went from being a kid with cancer to being a kid that is active in sports
She would later be nominated into the homecoming court & wouldn't come up short
She always dated guys from the b-ball court
