She had a second chance

by Charlene Queener   Jun 24, 2007

Everyone's yelling, and no one's listening.
Some's faces are getting red, while other's eyes are glistening.
Everyone storms out, and no one wants to compromise.
One talks about cheating, another complains about lies.
A relationship that used to be good has just went old.
The candle that once burned there has just burnt cold.
She begins to ask herself; What did I do?
He tells himself that it was her fault and that he should have knew.
With all honestly, she did nothing wrong,
But he still asks her how long this has been going on.
She tried to explain, so she can save what they have that's good.
But he doesn't care about that, even though he should.
She sits at home, alone in her living room floor.
Memories run through her head as if it were an open door.
She thinks of all the times that he made her laugh, and the times he made her cry.
She thinks to herself,

" Why can't I just die?
For without him, I am nothing but a mere shadow,
Lost in the days that will follow tomorrow.
What did I do wrong? Why doesn't he believe me?
Was I even good enough? Why doesn't he see?"

She lays there, and cries herself to sleep.
Knowing that she only has memories to keep.
In a deep sleep, she has a dream.
A dream that makes her think about a lot of different things.
She sees him, driving down the road,
Coming to tell her he's sorry and that he's got seeds to sow.
He takes his hand off the wheel to wipe a tear, making a huge mistake.
The last thing he heard was the sound of a Jake brake.
The pickup truck's bed is twisted around to the front and the truck is missing a wheel.
Thats when the cops find his body, laying in a field.
She rushes to his side and looks in his eyes;
His pulse is weak and and she fears he'll die.
Tears run down her cheek, as the ambulance takes him away.
While she remembers that "I hate you" was the last thing she would say.

She awakes, burning up with tears rolling down her face,
She says "I've got to fix this. Before its too late."
As soon as those words came from her mouth, she heard his car pull into the driveway.
He comes running up the stairs, nearly falling on the way.
He tells that shes everything he every wanted and needed.
And that he's sorry he was so conceded.

So next time you and your lover get into a fight,
Think about the good things you 2 have got,
Because Life is nothing but an hourglass, a passing cloud, and you'll never know when your time will run out.
