Her name was Skylar

by Charlene Queener   Jun 25, 2007

I sat there in the waiting room, waiting to hear someone call my name,
My sister was having a baby, and I didn't want to hear her in pain.
Finally my mom came down the stairs, and said "It's a baby girl."
I just knew that precious child was going to light up my world.
I went to her room, and touched her small soft hand,
As she grasped my finger, and I looked her hospital band.
Her name was Skylar, and she was a beautiful sight,
She had dark brown hair, and eyes that could bend light.
She had a small body, but the joy in my heart made up for the size.
I watched her sleep, just hoping to see her open her eyes.
She had the same condition as her mother, a hyper thyroid,
So she was put on medicine, because it's something you can't avoid.
Then we took her home, and spoiled her like crazy,
She could cry and we would run to her and begin to talk like a baby.
But at a month and nine day's old, god decided he needed her I suppose,
Because my friend saw her at 5 o'clock that morning with blood running down her nose.
My parent's and her mother rushed her to the hospital, not slowing down to stop for a light,
But by the time they got there it was too late, she had already taken her flight.
The funeral passed by so slow, and we asked ourselves, why god, why did you take her?
Is it something we did, Is it our fault, Is it a lesson we need to learn?
Because trust me God, I I've learned my lesson, and I've tried to worship you,
And I know that I've sinned, and lately I haven't been in a pew.
Lord, I ask you, don't take anyone else away,
Because we're a close family and we want to stay.
Now we have a new baby girl, and she's as healthy as a horse,
And we love her with all of our heart of course.
But in case you wish to know, Skylar has not been forgotten,
I talk to her every night, and I still remember her hair, as soft as cotton.
So Skylar, if your some how reading this, know that we all still love you,
And don't think that Kelsi has taken your place, because that's something that no one can do.
I Love You.
Rest In Peace, And Let God Watch Over You-Skylar

That was so sad. God is taking care of Skylar now. It was so beautifully written as well. It was very emotional.
