A Sorrow Soaked Maiden

by Liz   Jul 2, 2007

She sits in a tree as the water rains down
Her eyes are replete of a painful misery
She sits and she breathes each breathe of anger
Silent in her saddened state she seems
But the rain hears her melancholy screams
A cry of desperate feeling forfeited by her rage
Anger in her heart has her hurting.
Carried away by her emotions she stays still
Not to move for fear of falling to the ground
As the water rises to her toes, not a sound
A ringlet reflection shows more than she wants
The thought of a torn beauty, she looks away
To see face to reflection is too agonizingly ironic
Drowning herself in her simple sadness is useless
Bending down to touch the painful sight
Cold circles dance in an outward flight
It pulls her in and she can no longer breathe
Once filled with cold air, her lungs soak with water
She falls into the pain she let herself feel
Swimming to the tree, touching a final hope for life
She comes back to the surface of her sadness
She cries out to herself to stop this madness
Draining the life from her in this way
Why did she let her happiness get away
