Beneath My Skin

I need to face the reason
That everything I've come to be
Is all because I chose this path
I am this way because of me

Just so afraid of being hurt
I told the light to go away
I built the walls I live inside
I made the choice to always stay

I tried to save myself from pain
By never letting people in
And now I'm trapped inside my self
And only just beneath my skin
