Your Loss

by Avrii Monrielle   Jul 7, 2007

You said you didn't need me, you didn't need the world,
Said you had no time for thinking about girls,
Held your head up high as you tried to take your life,
The words you said that day cut through me like a knife.

Say goodbye to someone whose love you'll never have,
Say goodbye to helping make her share a laugh,
Say goodbye to everything you'd be lucky to have had,
Say goodbye to some girl that you made deeply sad.

She didn't want you anyways, it was wrong from the start,
You're the reason why she has a hurting heart,
Forget about the good times, forget about the cruel,
For when it all plays out, it's you who'll be the fool.

You're the reason why she goes to sleep smiling,
And the same restriction that makes her wake up crying,
The tear only forms inside of her right eye,
'Cause she still has a lot to stay which stays on the inside.

Why'd you have to hurt her when what you needed was a hand?
Why do you turn away when she wants to understand?
Why'd you hurt yourself when what you needed was a friend?
The whole world wants to know what on earth happened.

You always seemed to smile, you always seemed to joke,
But now it seems like you pretend you have no hope,
No matter what I do, no matter what I say,
You ignore every word and tell me, "Please go away."

I hate the way you cry up inside your room,
Cut a little deeper because it's after noon,
Won't pick up the phone when you really need to talk,
And trade in your CD's because you're tired of rock.

But you know, it's not my fault, and I really shouldn't be,
Pinning all the blame on the person known as me,
You took the world by storm with the fire in your eyes,
But now you've lost your flame at a dead end in your life.

I asked you what was wrong, and you said it was nothing,
Sure, that was the case, except that you were lying,
I know that now these days, you always seem to change,
But somewhere in my heart, I wish you stayed the same.

You can change your hair and you can change your clothes,
But you cannot change the fact that you've given up all hope;
No, I am not sorry, I just wanted to say,
It was always your loss in the first place anyways.

You lost the one sweet thing that could have changed the world,
You lost a lot of friends 'cause you said you didn't hurt,
You lost a lot of things that meant the world to you,
And you lost something called love 'cause you ignored the truth.
