Sweet Fragility

by Viola   Jul 7, 2007

They lie on the golden sand below
Along the ocean's lazy waves
She rests her head atop his chest
Hearing his heart beat, she knows
He's the man that she adores
The one she'd give the world for
He strokes her skin with his fingertips
And plays gently with her fine hair
She looks at him and smiles so shyly
And in his eyes she sees what she needs
Her reflection, so clear and so precise
And as he leans in to kiss her
She knows how lucky she really is
To be with him, it's like a dream
That came so abruptly in her life
Though it's everything she ever wanted
To have a man that loves her so
She can't erase the past that worries her
The scars that belong in her soul
All the ones that left her frightened
And so abandoned and alone
Their recollection still hurts her
And makes her weak
Sweet fragility as she remembers
The memories she left behind
Her soul is filled with others' lies
That she still carries deep inside
They make her tender loving heart
An easy one to break
Oh sweet fragility
It's what takes over her
As he looks her in the eyes
