Tragically Obvious

I love making you think that I'm kind of a big deal
But if you promise not to hold it against me
I'll promise not to spill all your secrets
You give a little, you take a little
I wasn't lying when I said you could trust me
Even though lying your way out of a situation
Just so happens to be in this year
So try to make the lies believable

We should just end this conversation
Cause effort is "so not your style"
Besides, the best we could ever do
Is on our backs and out of breath
Subtlety's never been my strong suit
But I wear it with dignity
Oh, and the way you tap your foot
You couldn't be more obvious

So I guess I'll just get to the point already
It's no surprise we're both still smiling
After faking it for so long, it kind of becomes permanent
But it doesn't matter how pretty you are in the dark
And it doesn't matter that even that is disappointing
Either way, I'm pretty sure there's gonna be a tragic ending
