A Knight's Love

by Audrie   Jul 14, 2007

On the freshly fallen snow
Lies a bloody trail
Leading not to fate
But a road straight into hell

As our hero stands
A journey awaits
For on this path
A true love fades

On this quest
To save their lives
He must battle chances
And foes unwise

A maiden waits
To take his hand
Wanting nothing more
Than her wedding bed

As sharpened swords
Find their prey
She hopes he lives
One more day

The battle is won
No more blood is drawn
Her warrior still lives
To face a new dawn

    "Than her wedding bed"

^Did you mean band? Just curious.

I really liked this poem, because it gave me so much to think about. I'm trying to figure out if it is a metaphor, or if you just decided to write this literally.

My first thought was that it was about a loved one sent out to Iraq. Or it's just supposed to mean your "knight in shining armour". I dunno. I guess that's the great thing about poetry, it can be interpreted in several different ways.

    Very interesting. :)
