Advice from Books

by BeautifulGwen   Jul 14, 2007

Rows and rows
of books,
whispering their stories
and tales
to innocent ears

You pick a book
and open the cover.
It whispers faith
and guidance.

You trail your fingers
over spines of
unspeakable age.

Your hand stops over
a raven black cover.
When you crack its spine,
all its whispers and sighs
are about suffering and
weakness.

You slam it shut and
shove it back on the
shelf.

Books are our guides.
Always giving comfort
and friendly advice.

Books can be helpful,
but watch out for the ones
that whisper angry things
in your ears.

All they want to do is
change you from the person
you are today.
