Prince In Shining Armor

by Alissa   Jul 20, 2007

I am writing this poem in the Prince's point of view, not a Princess who is locked in the tower. I was thinking about how only one man can take the princess away from the fiery kingdom. And how all us women, we build a kingdom around us, so we won't get hurt. We build it so it's nearly impossible to pass, but only the right man can pass, pass your kingdom into your heart.

The rain pours down hard on my armor,
the raindrops hitting the metal tin makes a sound,
a sound so pure that it brings strength to my bones.
I ride my noble steed hungry and drenched.
I feel my body weaken as the hours pass,
my joints seem to stiffen,
as we trot along the discarded path.
Slowly we reach our new journey,
our new obstacle.
The poisonous thorns,
a single prick,
and death consumes your flesh and bones.
The day turn into night fall and we must rest,
the risk of death fills my head.
Soon, I drift off into a light sleep,
ready to pounce at any lively action.

Birds soon chirp at the start of a new day.
"It's time; time to live, time to die, time for life."
