3 Hour Drive, with only headlights in sight

by Maria   Jul 21, 2007

A simple change in mind.
A hand to get up and grab you.
A simple girl not livin' in the right place in this world.
A love story, it's all the same
come back once, leave you once again.
A head on the pillow, with dreams I'll hold close
of you at night.
Thunderstorms, a thousand miles apart.
A slight change in wind
you're gone, out of sight.
City lights, never seem to dim.
But in the wide open country
the only lights are stars in the dark sky.
Reminds me of the twinkle in your eyes.
Take me home country roads
happiness is as far as the 3 hour drive
And when i get there, pole in my hand
I'll throw my line in the lake
and let me heart on a string go with the wind.
I can wait, but not too much longer to go home.
I can keep the song in my head, "Tuesday's gone.
At last i have to say, while being here
I've met amazing people that I'll never forget.
But i belong on that long winding road,
wind beneath my wings, spirit flying high.
This isn't another sappy poem,
this isn't a complaint.
This is all just simply the story of my life.
