My Heart Made of Patches

by Christina Yap   Jul 31, 2007

Look at me once

And you will see my smile

Look at me twice

And you will see it was a lie

Forget my appearance

And look at my soul

But don't expect

To find my heart whole

I have a heart made of patches

One I've made myself

The original was made of glass

But unfortunately

Someone broke it

I tried to fix it

But got cuts and bled

Leaving wounds that just won't mend

So here is my heart of patches

All worn out

Being mended by one

Just to be torn by another

I await the day he will come

The one who will fix my heart

Who will survive being cut

Survive losing his blood

The one who will turn to me and say

I did it just for you

I did it just because

I love you too

I love the title it's really eye catching. I can picture it being made into a sort of weird video story with the poem being said in the background. It's not as good as I wish it was but you don't have any errors that I am aware of and since it's not really a rhyming poem you don't really need to worry about all of that. Some of it sounded a little cheesey though no offense. Love poems can be hard because everyone talks about broken hearts so it's not your fault. I'll give it a 3 so the rating will average down a bit to I dunno a four point something. Keep trying. :) I'll check out your other ones.

This one has its own unique structure and It prompted me to read it. :)

I like the poem in totality and your word choice is also good. Keep up the good work
