As You Walk Away.

by Patricia Cox   Jul 31, 2007

As the wind blows through your hair,
And the rain pelts onto my face,
I reach out to you in attempt to remove the distance,
But you step away from me,
My face alters into a confused stare,
I wonder what I did wrong,
All I ever did was love you,
You turn your back on me slowly,
My tears concealed by the rain,
I run to catch up with you,
My hands fall onto your shoulders in attempt to slow you down,
We stop in the middle of a deserted road,
Our eyes lock our breathing ceases,
I can tell you're trying to find the words,
"With every breath I take, I hurt you more and more,
I love you with everything that I am and everything that I will ever be,
But the pain I impose on you greatens within the second,
I'm not running away from you, I'm insuring the best life for you without me".
My hands drop back to my side,
I lean my head in for one last kiss,
Knowing that it will be the last,
Now the rain is at it's hardest,
And my tears fall without hesitation,
You look at me one last time and whisper I love you,
Then you turn and begin to walk away,
My heart breaks from the lack of you,
I'll always remember whispering I love you as you walk away.
