Saving You From The Death I Caused.

by Patricia Cox   Aug 2, 2007

I will only complicate you,
There's nothing left of me,
I only live to hurt you,
Beware of what you see,
I meant it when I said I loved you,
I'll take you down with me,
I don't want this pain for you,
It will seep away from me,
I will be a reminder to you,
Look what it has done to me,
I don't want this life for you,
Turn and walk away from me.

I have been drawn to darkness,
Clouded from the light so long,
Nothing left but a broken carcass,
Destined to live a life of wrong,
You are like a bleeding flower,
Beautiful yet so innocent,
I will break you sooner or later,
Leave you with your petals bent.

I will always long to touch you,
I keep searching for the words to say,
With all the pain I've caused you,
I wonder why you don't stay away,
There's something so intoxicating,
I drink you in like alcohol,
All your hopes and dreams are fading,
I hold onto you and try to stall.

I see your death coming quickly,
Just the way I pictured it,
Slow and deadly compensating,
For all the times I prevented it,
Please don't call me your savior,
Just because I keep death at bay,
If I hadn't wanted you,
You wouldn't need me anyway

I have been drawn to darkness,
Clouded from the light so long,
Nothing left but a broken carcass,
Destined to live a life of wrong,
You are like a bleeding flower,
Beautiful yet so innocent,
I will break you sooner or later,
Leave you with your petals bent.
