Hole

She feels
completely empty
knowing that something
is missing constantly

the feelings of dread
in the back of her throat
of inevitable sinking
while trying to float

the hollow place
in her soul
now black and empty
was once whole

it was carved out
with a sharp knife
only to be irritated
with what we call life

this cavity so
empty and deep
now a reciprocal for all
her angst to sleep

now stuck in such
an unpleasant place
with all her thoughts & fears
that she doesn't want to face

she's tried to fill it
with liquid poison
trying to distort
her tainted illusion

able to confuse it
by inhaling so much smoke
only managing to fine
other feelings to provoke

but this breach
doesn't make her less strong
it doesn't turn her words
from right to wrong

confuse her
as it may
but herself she
refuses to betray
