Misinterpreted

by NeedNotDeny   Aug 4, 2007

You think you know me.
A happy, young girl.
You think my mind is full of happiness.
A smile always on my face.
You think laughter always surrounds me.
Every single day I smile.
You think that I love my life.
And that it can't be any more perfect.

I know you think you've got me worked out.
But as they say, "Don't judge the cover."
So let me introduce you to a whole new girl.
A girl who is nothing like me.

Her life is worthless.
She doesn't care that she's sad.
She'll lock herself away from the world.
And stay there for days.
Tears are always on her pillow.
Nightmares fill her mind.
Dark stormy clouds are her calling.
And so they forever will be.

This girl wants just one thing.
She longs for more than a single hug.
But kisses every day.
This girl wants someone to love.
Someone who'll give her their shoulder,
Just lean on and cry on.
She wants someone who'll hold her,
Who won't care about anything more.

But she knows that this is impossible.
For he wants nothing but perfection.

Well, I'll tell you something else.
Something you ought to know.
This girl is someone you think you know.
And this girl is much like someone I know.

Underneath her beautiful smile,
Is an ocean of tears.
Tears she wept on her own.

So guess who?
It's me.
