The Soldier's Song

by Aaron   Aug 6, 2007

I have never been to war, or ever served in the armed forces (though I gladly would if my country called on me). This poem is simply an idea I had for a political-esque song about the war. Enjoy.

I hear the beating of the chopper blades
inches from my ear
as I think about my family
and the home I'm leaving here

Sometimes I think about this world
being worse than it is now
I see the death around me
while I sit and wonder how

could it get darker
or go faster
than the master
has endowed

We push on through the sorrow
continue with the pain
kill today and kill tomorrow
while we pray it's not in vein

The sight of death around us
As we start each day anew
For a country that supports us
But is against what we do
