Breaking Down

by Cassie   Aug 13, 2007

They see a smile
They see joy
What they don't know
She can't take the pain no more
She is strong
No tears will fall from her precious eyes

When her mom cries
It slowly kills her inside
Her dad tells lies
Telling her things she doesn't want to hear

She is on the edge of breaking down
Can't they see how much pain she is in?
How she can't take the lies and the fights?

She pushes it away
All away
Forgetting it even happened
What she doesn't know that she could never forget

She wants someone to understand
The fights she hears at night
The tears her mom cries
The fear of falling in love
Fearing it will turn out like her parents

She prays all day
Praying this will all go away
Prays for a happy ending
Just like the stories she was told

She is good at lying
Lying that everything is okay
But lies only kill her more

She wants to run away
Away from it all
But where will she go?
Where will she stay?

Lost and confused she stays in her bed
A teddy bear at her clutch
At least the bear is there for her

What people see on the outside
Is nothing compared to who she really is
She hopes they will understand
That they will find out

She had nothing now
A broken soul
And a heart that was never whole in the first place
