Just One More Breath

A mother's tears fall on the folded flag
They dampen the stars that look down on our land
A land her son protected valiantly in war
She doesn't care about that now
She doesn't even know what he was fighting for

A father who can no longer hold his son's hand
Broken by the notion of losing his best friend
With tears rolling down his aging eyes
Proudly acknowledges his baby boy
Was man enough to give the ultimate sacrifice

Another tear falls, another soldier's death
Another mother wishing to give her son
Just one more breath

Another tear falls, another soldier's death
Another father wishing to give his son
Just one more breath

A family left to mourn their heroes' passing
They surround the casket, surrounded by sadness
Clouds overhead, they are numb to the rain
Only in their hearts do they feel the sharpest of pains
A pain that is certain to never fade away

Another tear falls, another soldier's death
Another family wishing to give their loved one
Just one more breath
