Best Friends?

I'm trying to put everything in the past
To try and make our friendship last
To put everything aside
But as much as I tried
I still tend to start
My words end up breaking both our hearts
I meant to say a lot more
Thoughtful comments but I don't know for sure
If you wanted to hear what I have to say
Or if you just want to put the past away
I can describe a best friend through my eyes
A best friend is someone who never lies
Who tries to help you out
Without making each other shout
Someone who tries to make you feel better
Not someone who sends you rude letters
Someone who you can stay with for the day
Without getting annoyed hoping they'll go away
Someone who appreciates their time with you
Not someone who is jealous of the friends you talk too
Someone who will be there for you forever
Who will answer your call whenever
From what I've written near the end
I notice that I will never match as a best friend
