This has so many simularities to how I feel when I have fallen for a girl and im glad that you are someone that can take that feeling and put it into words...

If the ending is a metaphor, then its a beautiful poem .. expressing beautiful emotion and wonderful sentiment about a loved one moving onwards and upwards to bigger and better things.

If it isn't a metaphor, I'd be a little worried that you had an eagle in captivity. (^^ ,)

I think this is a really nice poem to read. Its short and direct uses nice imagery and has a wonderful ending.

There are tremendous and beautiful things in this world, Ingrid. A thousand days in the dark before the dawn; a thousand tears after the drought is done, or a rainbow of more than my inspirations; every clairvoyance I have ever dreamt or thought of: are these not the miracles of life, if so you can believe?
No. Perhaps not.
I am one to believe, though. As must other poets like me, for beauty lies everywhere we look... can be seen, heard, the smell of autumn. :)
It's so hard to describe... yet... to reel from the expectations of something we've not yet experienced can be a terrifying event.
The dark terminus of life on this Earth can seem more powerful than the day life even began to emerge from the hollows. :)

I loved this poem, Ingrid. It is as beautiful as it is inspiring. I've yet to know of such things to a more higher degree, but I've experienced it well enough to know it exists. :) Thank you!
