Six Bachelors and Their Bride

by Timothy r   Sep 2, 2007

Mangled metal littered the abandoned road
Once promising lives now spirits in flight
Seven people reaped what they sowed
No one heard their screams in the night

Only four wheels left to be towed
Candy apple red shimmering in the light
Markers lining the path where blood flowed
Black asphalt glowing with bright white

Seven funerals for a friend, the sign said
Pews packed to the rafters
Hearing the words but knowing in their heads
There will be no happily ever afters

Healing will come to those who believe
For others, it is easier to hide
One town sentenced to bereave
Mourning six bachelors and their bride
