I Was Still Alive

by michelle   Sep 8, 2007

Running through the forest
from the hunters gun
The bullet scuffs my paw
And a trap clamps shut
But I'm still alive

The dart in my neck
It's red feathers blowing wild
My eyelids grow heavy
And i start to fall unconscious
But I'm still alive

In the dark cold cage
My claws pulled out
My legs broken, bleeding
And my jaw wired shut
But I'm still alive

Hooks through my feet
I'm hung from the wall
Blood dripping down my torso
And i cannot move
But I'm still alive

He chooses a knife
Soon I'll be no more
Just a tiger-skin rug on a rich mans floor
And i close my eyes, and wait
But I'm still alive

The blade cuts into my flesh
More blood begins to spill
Knife dragging down my body
And my skin is peeled off
But I'm still alive

My body dumped on the cold hard floor
Furless, skinless, dead to the eye
A pile of bleeding, red, raw muscle
I lay there for hours
And i was still alive.

Such a sickening poem with alot of truth. It's horrible what these animals have to go through at times. I feel for them, 5/5. Em
