Wake Me

by Jacob M Parnell   Sep 10, 2007

Wake me from this dream,
Give me back my life.
I want to be normal,
I want to ignore this strife.

Take away this pen,
Take away my voice,
Let me breathe again,
Let me have a choice.

Let me confide in love,
Give me the ability to trust.
Give me the capacity to love.
Take away this lust.

Release my endorphins,
Kill this condescending brain,
Make me an orphan,
Erase my childhood pain.

Dismiss my fate,
Let go of my soul,
Give me a clean slate.
Make me feel whole.

I want normality,
I want to believe in God,
I want to be content with my mortality,
I no longer wish to be odd.

I'm an atheist praying to something I don't believe in,
I'n wish that he save me from this hell,
Protect me from my own sin,
Let me bid this life farewell.

Just wake me from this dream,
Let me start back anew,
Dismiss me from this fate,
Please, I'm begging you...

This poem was very well written and it flowed really nicely, too. I think you did a really great job on writing it. You expressed yourself very well. 5/5
