A Summer of Light

by Angela   Sep 12, 2007

As I walk up the steps of marble and stone
I'm surrounded by columns and olive trees all around me

As I walk up the steps of marble and stone
I imagine philosophers like Plato and Socrates walking up with me

As I walk up the steps of marble and stone
I see the prize architecture Pericles dreamed
above a city full of dreams

As I walk up the steps of marble and stone
that is when i see it, a symbol of the Golden Age of my country, a symbol of democracy, a symbol of freedom

As I walk up the steps of marble and stone
I stand next to greatness that was seen many years ago
