The Boardwalk

Walking by the ocean, do you feel free?
The boardwalk creaks underneath your shoes.
Make sure you don't fall through.
Take my hand I'm waiting
for so long I never knew what was true.
You expect me to believe, but how could it be real?
All I need are guidelines for broken lives.
Force me to see, but all you need is right here
inside of me.
But I can't admit, you're not what I want.
It's not real, it can't be.
I'm better than this.
I'm better than this.
You can't be as good as me,
I'm dancing circles around you.
The boardwalk creaks under us
let's stay in each others arms
pretending everythings all right
but we'll never be all right.
We have to be careful, we can't fall through.
We have to keep playing this game,
because the lies are the closest things to the truth.
We can't admit it, the truth is just a bunch of lies.
We have to make sure we don't fall through.
This boardwalk was never so unstable,
the water can't swallow us yet,
'cause babe, I'm not done telling lies.
